ABOUT THE GAME

Dirty Seven game overview

Dirty Seven deals seven cards to each of two players and turns one card face up to begin the waste pile. On a turn, the active hand may shed a card only when its rank or suit agrees with the card currently showing. The undealt cards form the stock. A player without a legal discard must draw, increasing the distance from victory. Because the top waste card changes after every play, a useful suit can disappear before the next turn. The first competitor to remove every card wins, making hand size and control of the active suit equally important.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Before you start

Turns are deliberate and readable: inspect the exposed waste card, compare it with the hand, discard a legal match or take from stock, then let the opponent respond to the new rank and suit.

GETTING STARTED

How to play Dirty Seven

Begin by identifying all cards that match either property of the face-up card. When several are legal, consider which one leaves the largest number of follow-up matches in your own hand.

Draw from the stock when no match is available. Keep watching the opponent's shrinking hand, and avoid changing to a suit that appears easy for them when another valid choice exists.

CONTROLS

Tips for Dirty Seven

  1. Keep a card from your most common suit for flexible late-hand play.
  2. When the rival has one card left, change the suit if possible.
  3. Use a rank match to escape a suit that your hand cannot support.
